The Arkansas members of a large U.S. labor union Monday announced their support of Lt. Gov. Bill Halter in the U.S. Senate primary challenge to incumbent Democrat Blanche Lincoln.
The backing of the United Steelworkers (USW) members in the Natural State adds a dimension to the Halter campaign, which up to now, had attracted support largely [...]

Via The Boston Globe:
With Massachusetts having paid its final respects to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, the politics of succession begins in earnest this week – candidates will emerge, a race will take shape, and the Kennedy clan will have to reveal whether it wants to keep the seat in the family.
All eyes now are on [...]

Most of Peggy Noonan’s column in yesterday’s WSJ was predictably awful:
– McCain won the debate on Wednesday? Really?
– McCain succeeded in ridiculing Obama’s “eloquence”? Seriously, what debate was she watching, and from the confines of what alternate un-reality?
– The election is “infantilizing”? Why, because the guy she doesn’t like is winning?
– Palin could have been [...]

I’ve been a Communications Director. I’ve been in the back of the room restating my candidates words to best effect. I’m good at it. Sorry. That’s not modest yet I believe it true. I’ve sure had a lot of practice trying to bring voters to my candidates point of view or candidacy either in an [...]

The view from above at John McCain’s rally at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena today was pretty damn bleak.
In a stadium that seats 16,000, John McCain addressed a paltry “crowd of roughly 3,000 people.” Sam Stein notes on the the HuffPO that “Bloomberg News reported on Sunday, the campaign has been exaggerating its crowd numbers.”
Well, [...]

Everyone’s still talking about the “lipstick on a pig,” and Hillary Clinton jumped into the mix today to add her two cents:
“Barack has made this clear,” she said responding to a question about the lipstick remark, which Republicans have condemned as a “disgraceful” and “sexist” attack on Palin. “It was no way meant as an [...]

Here we go.
The christianist right has never liked McCain.
The christianist right wasn’t happy with McCain as the GOP nominee.
The christianist right (specifically the Council for National Policy) wanted Palin on the ticket and — surprise! — McCain picked her.
Palin, a member of the christianist right, has energized the party… and McCain’s candidacy.
But the christianist right, [...]

Who knew? If it was possible to see even a sliver of the future, what might be different?
Sen. Clinton just gave the presidency to her former rival, Sen. Obama. And in doing so, she accomplished the feat largely by showing the President she would have been, as opposed to the lesser president her campaign, for [...]

MoveOn announced today that they would walk the Obama walk when it comes to fundraising for the presidential election:
MoveOn, the advocacy group supporting Barack Obama, has decided to permanently shutter its 527 operation, partly in response to the Illinois Senator’s insistence that such groups should not spend on his behalf during the general election, I’ve learned from the [...]

There’s a piece in today’s WaPo about the impact Hillary Clinton’s candidacy had on many people: ‘She Touched a Lot of People.’
The story echoes what many Clinton supporters have felt about being involved in her campaign:
Five family members gathered last Thursday afternoon in their living room, shades drawn, to remember. They sat in big, cushioned [...]
