Both CBS and AP are reporting that Roland Burris will be confirmed in his Senate seat. While Reid flatly denies the report, the Illinois Secretary of State said her signature was not necessary and was ‘ceremonial’. We must speak up. We must make our voices heard. I know many of us are concerned with the effects of Katrina and other pressing issues, but the confirmation of John Roberts must not happen because of the complicity of our silence.
