The most intriguing part of the State of the Union Address for me was watching the Kansas Governor audition for the second spot on the Obama ticket. The main lesson I took from the entire experience, however, is that Obama is playing a dangerous game by creating expectations that he almost certainly cannot deliver on.
Sebelius [...]

Ezra Klein had an OP/ED in the L.A. Times on the subject of “unity” on Sunday. In the OP/ED, Ezra says, “even a consensus-building, problem-solving president can’t solve political gridlock.” He’s got a point and a very good point.
“Unity” ain’t a fix all for America’s ills. For all the hype on bringing everyone together it [...]

It should be noted that the American public seems more aware than usual of the importance of governance.
Governance is far different than ‘change’. It’s implementing programs, concepts and ideas effectively.

There is something to be said for the healing properties of a little music, a lot of laughter, and excellent company. I’m still not a hundred percent, but I am feeling much better today than yesterday.
I’ve got two more nights of partying working ahead of me, so I should be feeling completely gang-busters by Sunday.
I [...]

Never one to do anything half-way, I am preparing to work for the next three days and still feeling like Mother Nature does not like me very much. But, the show must go on, as they say.
It kind of reminds me of what my grandmother used to tell me when I was young, “If [...]

Go over to TPM and watch this wonderful Bill Moyers commentary on Hillary Clinton’s LBJ/MLK comment that caused so much controversy. This is a great piece by Moyers.
As Moyers points out, it was the NY Times who started the ball rolling on the criticism of Clinton and they have yet to apologize.

Thursday, Thursday, Thursday! My favorite day of the week. I get to be the center of attention. I get to sing all night. I get entertained by sobriety-challenged singers. AND…I get paid for the privilege! Yes, I have a semi-charmed life.
Just to give you an idea of what I [...]

As an only parent with a struggling small business I’m one of those Americans who’s worried about the economy. In truth, I’ve had concerns about the economy for years now. I’ve watched small businesses like my own struggling under the Bush administration for years and now, the sh*t has truly hit the fan.
I felt that [...]

The “what if” game: What if you were a commander in chief and were meeting with your leaders who were conducting a war on your behalf. Is there any chance that you would not ask questions like “do you have enough soldiers”?
What if, though, you pretended that you hadn’t done that? I wonder what that [...]

This was a helluva classy exit. Personally I believe it’s sad that a candidate like Joe Biden who has so much poise and expertise is now out of the race.
[UPDATE] I could find no video on the Chris Dodd site.

This Joe Biden video, directed at the Iowa Caucus voter, speaks for itself. No matter who you support at the moment, please take the time to watch this substantive statement.
Pass this video around as it’s the kind of reasoned appeal that we need to hear from all our candidates. So far, to my knowledge, Joe [...]
