Gun Advocates to Congressman… Watch Your Back

Gun safety advocate, Rep. Rick Nolan (D-MN), told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes today that “his office is receiving anonymous threats, warning the Congressman to watch his back.” “I have never, ever in all my life feared for my security, and I’m not fearful of it now,” Nolan began. “But I’m a little more [fearful] than I ever had been before. We’ve been getting a lot of not very thinly veiled threats and calls into my office. The 2nd amendment trumps no one’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The alleged shooter in the incident remains free and hasn’t been charged, due to Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” statute. That state law has come under intense scrutiny since Martin’s death. “Just … Continue reading

Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization because of the vote. Department spokesman Victoria Nuland told reporters that the Obama administration would not make a planned $60 million payment to the agency due this month…. Continue reading

The Monkey Cage

The Party has no clear consensus and, thus, “priorities” are all over the map. They are held together either by hatred — Guns, God, Gays, etc. — or else sheer contrariness — oppose all Democratic ideas, no matter how sound — but the fundamental positions within the GOP are SO contradictory that no one exists who could fill the wish list for the crazy salad they’d collectively like to toss.
