“Eliminationist? What’s that? Who are they? I’ve not seen that word before and don’t understand. “
These are common reactions when people see the real work being done to define the violent rhetoric today. There is a movement of people who are radical and think seriously of how to demonize then eliminate their opposition. The language [...]

Sarah Palin said she had a “higher calling” that required her to resign 17 months before her term ended as governor of Alaska, and not to seek a second term.
I have no idea where this “higher calling” came from, but I suspect it could only have come from two sources. The first one is God. [...]

Some conservatives were attempting to paint Barack Obama as a weak leader over the pirate hostage drama. They are eating crow now.
And interestingly, speaking of eating crow…
A new poll indicates Americans don’t agree with former Vice President Dick Cheney’s recent assertion that President Barack Obama’s actions have increased the chances of a terrorist attack against [...]

The NRO is worried about “The Future Of Marriage.” And then there’s “The Gay Marriage Fantasy.”
Goodness… I feel sorry for these conservatives who harbor such bigotry.

In The Washington Times today — and I feel dirty linking to it, and even dirtier for having been on its website — Newt Gingrich asks the following question: “Where does the conservative movement go from here?” My answer is a simple one: Down the toilet and into oblivion. Newt, however, claims that it “has [...]

Most of Peggy Noonan’s column in yesterday’s WSJ was predictably awful:
– McCain won the debate on Wednesday? Really?
– McCain succeeded in ridiculing Obama’s “eloquence”? Seriously, what debate was she watching, and from the confines of what alternate un-reality?
– The election is “infantilizing”? Why, because the guy she doesn’t like is winning?
– Palin could have been [...]

I haven’t posted about the Gallup Daily Poll in a while, and I thought it worth noting that today’s Gallup Poll Daily tracking report “shows Barack Obama maintaining a 52% to 41% lead over John McCain, unchanged from Wednesday’s report.”
Frank Newport notes:
Signifying a general stability in the race, Obama has maintained a share of the vote [...]

Does a younger population that wants to feel like they live in a young country elect an old warhawk for their leader? It would be bad enough in 2008 if McCain would not be the oldest President ever, but for him to promise to continue an experience of military adventurism that is unpopular in the [...]

The American Mayor… He didn’t have a prayer… “Perhaps he was living an illusion all along.”
John McCain won the Florida primary tonight, and “solidified his status as the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination.” Rudy barely placed yet again… He’s out:
