Polls Show Women Aren’t So Interested in Palin

Well… If John McCain was angling for the women’s vote with his choice of Sarah Palin as his VP, he may not get it after all. The first two national polls out since McCain’s pick was announced show “contrary to what the GOP probably hoped, she scored less well with women than men.”
Here’s a finding [...]

What Democrats Owe to John McCain

Now that our presidential nominees are set, the partisan battles in the media and online have shifted into general election mode. Even before the Democratic nomination was sealed, the DNC sent e-mails and press releases criticizing John McCain as running for Bush’s third term, accusing him of wanting to wage 100 years of war, being [...]

Clinton Preparing to Drop Out of Presidential Race on Friday

This is tough to share with all my fellow Clinton supporters: ABC News reports that “Sen. Hillary Clinton will hold an event with supporters by Friday, likely ending her historic bid for the White House and ceding the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama.”
I can confirm, this is not a rumor, it’s not erroneously reported news [...]

AP Does It Again

AP News is all about jumping the gun today. First they broke with a story that Hillary would concede tonight (see below), and that was wrong. Now they are claiming that by their tally, “Obama effectively clinches nomination.”
The AP tally was based on public commitments from delegates as well as more than a dozen private [...]

Robert Kennedy Jr. Responds to Hillary Clinton’s RFK Remarks

There’s a raging firestorm in the blogopshere over Hillary Clinton’s remarks made “Thursday, in a meeting with the editorial board of the the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.” As I noted below, Clinton has expressed regret for the statement.
Robert Kennedy Jr., who endorsed Hillary Clinton months ago, issued the following statement this evening (emphasis mine):
“It is clear from the [...]

A Pro-Obama Media Slant

The Page notes that the media (citing a piece in the NY Times) is slanting towards Obama in his claim to be ready to claim the nomination:
Sunday’s NY Times: “If things continue to go as well for Mr. Obama this week as they have so far this month, with a romp in North Carolina, a [...]

Senator Ted Kennedy Hospitalized With Seizure

Senator Ted Kennedy was hospitalized this morning after suffering from stroke like symptoms. He was rushed by ambulance and initially hospitalized at Cape Cod Hospital and then airlifted to Mass General in Boston.
Kennedy spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter says that “Kennedy has been hospitalized in Boston after suffering a seizure,” rather than a “stroke as initially suspected.”
Cutter [...]

7 Good Reasons Why Clinton Should Stay In The Race

There are 7 good reasons why Hillary Clinton should stay in the race… Marc Ambinder outlines them and notes that “Some of these reasons may be unpalatable for Democrats and for Obama, but they are not entirely irrational.” He’s right.

USA Today/Gallup Poll: Obama Damaged by Wright Flap

The latest USA Today/Gallup poll published today shows that “Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama’s standing has been significantly damaged by the controversy over his former pastor,” and the issue raises “questions for some voters about the Illinois senator’s values, credibility and electability.”

The erosion of support among Democrats and independents raises the stakes in Tuesday’s Indiana and [...]
