In case no one’s noticed (and no one has), The Daily Caller, financed by Foster Friess, has successfully pushed its “destroy MediaMatters” scandal into the Murdochosphere, as a choreographed and concerted campaign to take out yet another “liberal threat” is taking place without any defense from the left.

The silence is palpable.

And the clock is ticking.

And nobody has connected the dots between Foster Friess and his stooge, Tucker Carlson trying to take out ANOTHER liberal voice?

You’d think if Friess were true to his statement about the $3 million he ponied up for The Daily Caller, he’d say “stop” and you KNOW Tucker would listen:

What the profiles rarely mention is that Friess, a mutual fund executive, also provides financial backing to the Daily Caller, Tucker Carlson’s conservative news website. As I reported a few weeks ago, Friess gave Carlson $3 million in seed funding two years ago and told Vogel last month that he is “absolutely thrilled” with the DC’s work and recently decided to invest a further $500,000.

Carlson has often said that Friess has no influence on the DC’s editorial coverage, and reiterated that in emails with me this morning.

“Foster has never tried to influence our coverage of anything ever,” he wrote.

And Foster’s obviously good with TDC’s unrelenting “media hit man” strategy, pious declarations of non-interference and “restoring civility” notwithstanding.

What tangible “seal of approval” for TDC’s vicious tactics could be more convincing than Foster ponying up another half-million?

One throws up one’s hands in despair for poor Reason, so oft invoked, so rarely practiced.

Take a look at the snarling coverage.

(I don’t know that any actual snarling is going on, but there is a general blogospheric need for venting, from the evidence.)

The tacitly agreed-upon tactic seems to be to smear using the 1 = all proposition and hoping the endless scheiss-sturm will rub off on the Occupy Wall Street Protests around the nation and around the world.

Against such a tide of chaos this little skiff of a blog cannot hope to row.
