On Thursday, the House passed an energy bill with “the biggest increase in vehicle fuel-economy standards since gasoline cost less than a dollar a gallon.”
The L.A. Times reports the bill is headed for a “showdown in the Senate and a possible veto from President Bush.”

The U.N. Climate Change Conference began in Bali today. Delegates from over 180 nations are participating along with observers from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. The purpose of the Bali conference is ”to negotiate a new pact to succeed the Kyoto protocol, which expires in 2012.”

Speaking of the homeless in America, Brad Pitt was on The Today Show’s Ann Curry this morning talking about his efforts to help rebuild that still devastated Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans. Pitt said he “expects the foundations to be built for at least 150 eco-friendly homes by the end of next summer.”

Robert Kennedy, Jr. endorsed Hillary Clinton today.
I’ve got to say this is a heavyweight endorsement for Clinton in my opinion. Robert Kennedy, Jr. is a progressive activist who’s admired and respected on his stance on environmental issues and voter fraud and he’s a Kennedy… not just any Kennedy mind you, he’s Bobby Jr..
