Since the third and last, (thank god), debate I’ve essentially over-occupied myself with reading one of the most instructive and yet discouraging books I’ve ever read: State of Denial by Bob Woodward. While many of you may have pushed through this very detailed account of the actual execution of war planning and war execution, I’ve [...]

It’s official…. “A legislative investigation” in Alaska “has concluded that Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power in pushing for the firing of an Alaska state trooper who was once married to her sister, or by failing to prevent her husband Todd from doing so.”
The report by investigator Steve Branchflower was made public late this afternoon [...]

But today, I learned [...]

You just got to love those conservatives from further up north here in Louisiana. The people in Alexandria, Louisiana tend to be conservative. You start getting into bible thumping country in that area.
Government & Politics
Alexandria has a mayoral-council system of government. The current Mayor – Jacques Roy – serves as the executive branch of the [...]

After a humiliating retreat on Iraq funding and with abysmal approval ratings, Congressional Democrats go back to work for a war of attrition with the White House this summer.
Whatever else they do, Democrats should press Sen. Byrd’s effort to overturn the 2002 resolution that sanctioned the invasion of Iraq–for more reasons than one.
Strategically, if they [...]

Man, 20, Arrested in Stadium Threat Hoax:
Ok, you know the story: “A 20-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested Friday and charged with posting messages on Internet chat boards threatening that radioactive “dirty bombs” would go off at National Football League stadiums in seven cities on Sunday.”
And anyone with a functioning sports [...]
