I’ve been lax in blogging since my cross country move to Maine. Settling in here and unpacking has taken up most of my time, but I did not want to let election day pass without chiming in.

According to a poll released today, Barack Obama is picking up steam among Latino voters and he is “winning support from the vast majority of those who had voted for rival Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries.”

The short answer is yes. In 1964, the 20 Kerry states (including DC) were worth 270 electoral votes (EVs). In fact, while the numbers of EVs in each state shifted somewhat, the Kerry states were still worth 270 EVs in 1980, while the 31 Bush states were only worth 268 EVs in 1964 [...]
