The Obama Administration has decided to play hardball with the auto industry. In a White House speech just a short time ago, President Obama unveiled a new plan to help the auto industry, and he said that the auto industry failure “is not the fault of its workers but a “failure of leadership” in Washington [...]

“It’s time to play hardball,” advises the WaPo’s E.J. Dionne today, echoing the sentiments of many, including myself, who think Obama needs to fight back against Republican anti-stimulus spin. Dionne concludes:
In just two weeks, the elation of Inauguration Day has given way to a classic form of partisan hardball. Obama and his advisers have been [...]

Last night I was watching Senator Claire McCaskill on MSNBC’s Hardball, talking about her legislation that proposed a pay limit “to all companies that receive Treasury money.” McCaskill told Chris Matthews that she felt the proposed legislation would get support from the Obama Administration. My reaction to that was that the Obama Administration had damn [...]

I put up a post a bit ago about my view of the The Big Three auto industry investment.
But I just found out that nowhere are they talking about slapping these jerk-off’s around. Chris Matthews is suggesting that the executive compensation be limited to the President’s salary which, I believe, is $200,000.
And now on Hardball [...]

I’ve urged here frequently that readers should support the nominee, whoever the nominee is, but frankly, truthfully, the backlash that is brewing is a little hard to ignore.
The thing is, as Joan Walsh pointed out tonight on Hardball (see video in post below) “Bill Clinton is our only 2 term Democrat” in the White House in [...]

For everyone who thinks still that Barack Obama doesn’t play old school politics here’s a new flash…
Alice Palmer, the former Illinois state senator who hand picked “Obama to be her successor back in the mid-90s” won’t be campaigning for Obama in Indiana. Instead she’s campaigning for Hillary Clinton:

After Ann Coulter was rejected by just about everyone after saying that John Edwards looks like a “fag” Ann Coulter seemed to have learned her lesson. Well not exactly: “if I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”
So, finally, Elizabeth [...]

This weekend’s first Oscar goes to this right-wing screed in today’s AJC, written by someone named Jan McClure, who is described as “president of the McClure Media Group, a corporate communications and public relations firm. ” For some reason, the AJC feels that a public relations flack is qualified to discuss political [...]

As Pamela notes below, the pot shots in the presidential race are going to be coming fast and furious the next year or so.
New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson joined the fray on Sunday, and he seemed to be taking opportunities to slam former nominee John Kerry at every turn. When [...]
