A lone bugler played Taps as Senator Ted Kennedy was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetary next to his brothers John and Bobby.

According to Congress Daily, 9 of 12 targeted Republicans running in the most competitive U.S. Senate races this fall “are either skipping the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn., or have not decided whether to attend.”
Among those who will not attend: Ted Stevens of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine and Bob Schaffer of Colorado.

It is not unusual to hear that the GOP are more conservative on fiscal matters and that Democrats attachment to spending and “big government” has caused their downfall. A corrollary to this is that Bill Clinton gave the Democrats a much needed makeover and remade the Democrats into the party of fiscal responsibility.
