[NOTE Nov. 18: This post has been featured today on Crooks and Liars (@"above the law"). Thanks Mike!]
I didn’t want to go here, and the country probably doesn’t, either, but Alan Keyes has decided to go there, and that means the gloves have to come off.

For the benefit of that majority of folk who find themselves embroiled in debates as to the absurdity of the mantic arts, let me offer this explanation, and then the fun.
All mantic arts, i.e. those disciplines that carry “mancy” at the end of their names — cartomancy (tarot cards), oneiromancy (dream interpretation), necromancy (seances, communication [...]

We did it!!!! Obama routed John McCain in a full on electoral college sweep. 333 Electoral Votes and 51% of the popular vote. Add to that sweet victory: Democrats unseat GOP House incumbents.

Jeffrey Hart was a speech writer for Ronald Reagan both as governor of California and as President. He was a speechwriter for Richard Nixon. He’s written academic books and articles on the underpinnings of the true conservative movement. He was a senior editor of The National Review for nearly 40 years. He is a true [...]

SNL - Smooching Butt To Power
Or, actually it WAS funny, but not funny “ha ha.”
The opening sketch, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin with the actual John McCain going on QVC because McCain didn’t have enough money for any other network buy was kind of [...]

The latest chant at Palin rallies is this: “Vote McCain, not Hussein!” or “John McCain! Not Hussein!” As NYT’s The Caucus is reporting, the former made an appearance at a rally earlier this week in Pennsylvania, the latter at one this morning in Florida:
After the rally in Florida ended, two of the people leading the [...]

Rolling Stone has published a cover story on John McCain that has the most damning, well documented biography of his life I’ve seen. I thought I knew the deceptions of John McCain. I didn’t know one-tenth of the real story. I won’t try to summarize this lengthy article. There is simply too much data, too [...]

There are a lot of scary things in this world, but one of the scariest is that Halloween and the Presidential election are only five days apart. It’s hard to miss the parallel between tricks-and-treats and the promises-and-panderings of politicians masquerading as the most caring, most vital, most sincere candidate. While [...]

Barack Obama is seizing upon a gaffe by McCain adviser, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, about the Republican candidates’ health care plan. When the adviser was asked on CNN Money about young workers abdoning employment based health care. ”Why would they leave?” he said. “What they are getting from their employer is way better than what they could get with the credit.”
The [...]

Yesterday I posted a video appeal by the Barack Obama campaign asking those that could to take just one day, perhaps a vacation day or personal day, and work for the Obama campaign on election day. I thought it was an innovative nationwide request to an enormous mail list.
The article was picked up by a [...]

In a movement that hasn’t gotten much attention, Arizona could be considered a state that is ‘in play’. Long time considered a Republican stronghold, the demographics are changing and so it the voting pattern. As pointed out in The Rasmussen poll, the state is possibly turning Blue or is at least Purple.
Rasmussen Polls has this [...]

It is not, one supposes, egotistical to note that the story I told you here last Monday (”Holy You Betcha, Batman! It’s the Barracuda!” 20 Oct 2008.) is now confirmed on Saturday, after having become the subject of speculation throughout the bloviating class. To wit:
