Americans With Obama On Tax Hikes, Strategists Say

Public opinion is squarely with President Obama on imposing tax increases for the wealthy, as Republicans  flail about on the issue, according to a new memo by two prominent Washington Democrats. Most Republicans continue to resist allowing tax rates to rise on the richest taxpayers as part of a deal to avert the so-called coming “fiscal cliff,” even though Americans strongly back such a tax hike, according to polling presented as part of the memo released by famed Democratic strategist James Carville and pollster Stan Greenberg through their Democracy Corps organization. Mitt Romney wants to meet you, but only if he’s really, really high. The Romney campaign just sent an email via the Washington Times  advertising an Obama-esque competition to enjoy some private time with the Republican candidate at 32,000 feet. Just you, him… and a planeful of people paid to be between you and him. Team Romney is hoping to capitalize off of the same spirit of the Obama campaign’s repeated contests to have dinner with the Obama and/or a celebritous individual or two, or maybe hang out backstage with the First Lady, that kind of thing. The Party has no clear consensus and, thus, “priorities” are all over the map.
