Trying To Change The Senate Climate: Reid ‘Wants Bill Soon,’ But Carbon Regulation Plans Still Stalled

If healthcare reform is shaping up as the equivalent of political combat in the Senate, then consider the issue of climate change as its Cold War.
Legislation to limit greenhouse gas emissions through a new cap-and-trade system has languished in the Senate for the better part of a year. The bill has gone nowhere, despite the [...]

Senator John Kerry: Only 72 Hours Until MA Special Election!

As readers here have no doubt noticed I have been MIA here for some time now. I do spend what free time I can posting links to my Twitter Feed, however, I just don’t have much time to write here. I wanted to chime in today though and share this email just received from Senator [...]

Kerry Calls for Pirate Hearings

On Wednesday, I noted here on The Dem Daily that pirates had seized an American ship off the coast of Somalia. The crew of the ship “later overpowered some of the pirates,” but Capt. I’m winding down to my last few days before my big cross country move. It’s bad timing given the election, but it’s something I must do. Needlessto say I’m overwhelmed with packing and organizing and finalizing details, so finding time to post is difficult. That said, this arrived a short time ago in my email box [...]

Kerry to Take Over Foreign Relations Committee?

One of my first thoughts last night when I heard the news that Senator Joe Biden was Obama’s VP pick, was if Kerry would end up chairing the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Apparently, I wasn’t alone in that thinking:

Why the Debate Over McCain’s Eight Homes Matters

Politico has pointed out that John McCain has not “Seven” homes, as the Obama camp points out in the ad below, but “Eight.”
Chris Cillizza’s analysis of “Why the Home Debate Matters” is spot on:

John Kerry: “Guns and Bombs Alone Are Not Enough to Win the War of Ideas”

Senator John Kerry delivered a brilliant speech on Wednesday morning at the Center for American Progress Action Fund entitled “A New Approach to Fighting Terrorism.”  Kerry’s speech reflected his recent findings from his Middle East trip to Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Egypt earlier this month and outlined his proposals to deal more effectively with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq, [...]
