There are now 40 confirmed cases of the Swine Flu in the U.S. and more than 1600 cases in Mexico. Concern over the outbreak has “cast a shadow over the struggling global economy,” as the spread of Swine Flu “could harm trade and tourism and undermine businesses just as they begin to rally.”

The stimulus package vote today brought Senator Ted Kennedy back to the Hill to cast his vote with fellow Democrats in support of the bill. Watch the brief interview with Kennedy here:
The vote on the stimulus package was 61-36, just one more vote than the 60 votes needed to “move the measure toward Senate passage.”

According to Congress Daily, 9 of 12 targeted Republicans running in the most competitive U.S. Senate races this fall “are either skipping the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn., or have not decided whether to attend.”
